CLUB QUICK LINKS
Welcome to Essendon Camera Club: Capturing Moments Since 1956
The Essendon Camera Club (ECC) is one of Melbourne’s longest-standing and most vibrant photography communities. Whether you are picking up a camera for the first time or you are a seasoned professional looking to refine your craft, our club offers a supportive and inspiring environment to grow your skills.
Our mission is simple: to share the wonderful world of photography through community, education, and creative exchange.
Why Join Essendon Camera Club?
A Welcoming Community for All Levels
We pride ourselves on being an inclusive club. Photography is a journey, and our members range from beginners learning the basics of exposure to advanced photographers exploring complex artistic techniques. No matter where you are in your journey, you’ll find a community ready to share knowledge and encouragement.
Monthly Competitions & Feedback
One of the best ways to improve is through constructive feedback. Our monthly competitions cover both Print and Digital categories, with separate sections for A Grade and B Grade to ensure a fair and rewarding experience. Each month features a “Set Subject” to challenge your creativity, alongside “Open” categories that allow you to showcase your best work.
Education & Skill Development
The ECC is deeply committed to learning. We host:
- The ECC Photography Course: A comprehensive program designed to give you a solid foundation in technical and creative photography.
- Expert Presentations: Regular sessions with professional photographers and industry experts covering everything from Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) and wildlife photography to advanced post-processing techniques.
- Hands-on Workshops: Practical sessions on specialized topics like portraiture, bird photography, and long exposure.
Unique Resources
Membership at ECC comes with practical benefits, including:
- Equipment Lending Library: Access to specialized gear that you might not yet have in your own kit.
- Special Interest Groups: Connect with members who share a passion for specific niches, such as our Portrait Photography group.
- Field Trips and Outings: Regular club excursions to scenic locations around Victoria, providing the perfect opportunity to practice in the field with fellow enthusiasts.
Get Involved
We meet regularly at our clubrooms (every second and fourth Monday of each month) to share our work, learn from guest speakers, and socialize. Photography can be a solo pursuit, but it is best enjoyed with others who share the same passion.
